Kenergy in every cup at Espresso Legends
Best coffee in Brisbane? It’s a bold claim, but when you’re an espresso legend, we’ll allow it.
Ken Cheng is the caffeine king at the helm of Espresso Legends, a bustling boutique Brisbane CBD café that reopened in February following a fresh new facelift as part of the multi-million dollar redevelopment happening at Post Office Square.
A favourite go-to for discerning lovers of tea and coffee alike, this ‘hidden gem in plain sight’ has been serving up thousands of cups of caffeinated pick-me-ups in the heart of the city since 2012.
There’s a dash of Ken’s infectious ‘Kenergy’ in every one of those cups, where his artistry, craft and passion for quality, great-tasting coffee and tea converge.
“We use at least three different brands of coffee,” Ken said. “We want to give our customers a good variety of flavours and intensity, so they have the option to choose which blend suits their tastebuds or what they feel like drinking on the day.
“Our traditional, Italian dark roast blend from Mocopan is our best-seller. It’s strong, full of flavour and works well with both espresso and milk-based coffees.
“We also have a specialty blend from Roast By Yili, an amazing coffee roaster from the Gold Coast who has won the Golden Bean Championship two years in a row.
“We like to keep things a little mysterious with our third blend because this one changes depending on the response from customers.”
Cold drip coffee has proven popular over the long, hot summer, as have the selection of teas that include single origin green tea, single origin blac tea and Taiwan Oolong Tea brew by “ESPRESSO TEA MACHINE” along with the traditional favourites.
“Our new store looks great,” Ken said. “We’re so happy to be serving our wonderful customers again and we’ve had some excellent feedback on our new appearance.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of Post Office Square develop and change. Tenants and customers are in for a real treat.”
