Mr Curry a favourite happy meal…
Yoshi Takano, Managing Director of the Mr Curry franchise, which has recently opened its latest store in Post Office Square, describes Japanese curry as Japan’s equivalent of the “happy meal” or, as he describes it “Genki food” which loosely translates to fun, energetic, and lively.
“It is the most popular dish in Japan,” he says excitedly. “Everyone loves it from kids to the elderly, men and women and people of all religions.
“We have plenty of vegetable options for vegetarians and we don’t use pork products, so our curries are suitable for Muslims.
“But most importantly, the food is delicious.
“People tend to find one Japanese curry they really love and stick to that all the time. But I encourage them to try different curries because they will probably find more flavours they love as much, or maybe even more.
“And when it comes to Japanese cuisine and our range of food, curries are only just the start.
His passion for Japanese food and the Mr Curry chain is clear to see for anyone who knows Yoshi.
“We’re excited to see all the movement and change happening in Post Office Square,” he said. “The refurbishment makes it feel so clean and inviting, bringing a fresh atmosphere to the area. It’s an exciting time.”
